Determine a Voice

a person who likes to write short stories, poetry and writing in general. I never thought that my blog needed a set voice. I thought it was much like storytelling one page at a time. However, It’s that one page that has to hook our readers in; that’s where I need help.

Unless, I can define my voice in blogging. Which is what I choose for ZeroToHero: Day 14: Blogger’s Choice! Where I found a couple of helpful resources to begin that journey. Here’s the first place I visited:developing your blogging voice  and second place:Grammar Girl: Understanding Voice and Tone in writing. Hopefully, once I get my voice, than I can get a set type of readers. Hence, my reasoning for discovering my blog self.

So, once I finish this post I will go back to my bookmarks and revisit each place. I just wanted to stop and share what I found along my trip. Because, as writers and bloggers we can never stop learning in this ever evolving world of words and roads.

What I found Today

I was blog cruising today for HerotoZero ‘s assignment for day 12.  Where, we feature a blog that inspired us to leave a comment on. As wells as elaborate on the comment and elements of the post that we agree or disagree with.  From that I happily came across: C.M.CrabTree post: Be Yourself, Love Yourself.

Who’s post is brave and poses some  questions that should be well thought out. One  question she asked, that I liked, was: “will they like me if they know how I really feel?” She asked this about people in general, whom one would seek approval from.

I gave that question a few minutes of  thought and  came up with a pretty similar conclusion as C.M. CrabTree. I don’t want to give you the answers, because I want you to give her short, but power piece a read. But, I must say in life, period. We must choose wisely and peacefully  for the good of everyone, as well.

Meaning, if you stand up or speak up for something, sometimes no matter how good our intentions are, not everyone wants to see outside the box or ware used shoes. To further add to the title of her post, I’d like to say if you are purely being the best you, you are, it makes it  less difficult to disagree with a  kind, peaceful and honest person and I understand it’s also difficult at times, too.

Now, to Day Thirteen: Time to build a (better) blogroll. Check out the Zero to Hero main page for details and resources.

The Outsiders

Daily Prompt: The Outsiders

Tel us about the experience of being outside, looking in — however you’d like to interpret that.

The experience of being on the  outside , looking in is a  comfort zone, for me. This is the zone where I can chose to be part of something, by documenting it with in my mind.and sharing it.This makes being on the outside not a bad thing.
Because how can a photographer find a subject to photograph. How can an actor really feel a role. A painter paint , a poet empathize and a healer know the right words to heal. In order to accomplish most of  these things, at one point they all must live on the outside or out of themselves.

There are so many positive things created because, someone who’s on the outside looking in. Because , they said “Hello world I’am here and let me tell you your not alone!” That person may have a different sexual orientation. But, some of us , have to admit we have at one time in our lives, had a moment when we didn’t fit the mold.

Like a new job,  being a certain race and having a certain belief. Or, perhaps we are part of the same community or organization. But, the difference is our perspective and acceptance in things. Or, it’s  a thick accent and the way we’er  dressed, with the accent.

But, it’s okay. It those thing that we create beautiful things from. So, the hurting person can say, ” Hi, I’am here too! Thank you for your strong , but peaceful words  written in this poem or book” Or Thank You for giving me courage to get my dark feelings out in a positive and creative way . ”

For some Christian Encouragement please read Cafe 1 Live , by someone who loves everyone and believes  God and Jesus does too.

Let me start off by saying I would have loved to have  done  a mix media, but I’m using a loner computer for a while. So. Please enjoy the song, as this will be a short post for : Zero To Hero , Day 6: Publish A Post That Includes A New Element .

That element  for was music! it’s a remix I found on Sound Cloud, I picked it because I  like Avicii. As for the rest of the music, see photo as my disclaimer  :))))))

Simply The Best

Daily Prompt: Simply the Best

When and where do you do your best thinking? In the bathroom? While running? Just before bed, or first thing in the morning? On the bus? Why do you think that is?

Here’s the answers:

When and where do I do my best thinking: I seem to think better like most people, when I’m alone during anytime of  the day.  I can also do it anywhere, even in  an area full of noise. For example, if I  take public transportation , I let the scenery take my worries away. It’s there that I let my mind go, disconnect from what’s around me and let my mind wander until it picks up on something, good and create something from that.

However, if it’s serious than see above paragraph  but add this version: (of course I pray) Where my conclusion happens after I  shallow my pride and move forward.  Of course  I do that after a long jog, with music blasting from my ear phones, and saying a lot of un-holy words.

Why do I think that is: I think that way because I’m use to having a lot going on around me. Also being alone is not an option always, nor is going for a walk, or avoiding a way to work. So, creativity comes in handy.  I learned this from my father who was a music professor and musician. Who would practice  playing piano as a form thinking for must situations

Explore the Neighborhood

DAY 4: EXPLORE THE NEIGHBORHOOD .

20140105-214444.jpg

This is the challenge for day 4 at: Zero to Hero:30 days for a better blog /the Daily Post. So this is what I found during some of the visits.

I found the first blog through, Australian photographer: Leanne Cole PHOTOGRAPHY ~ art and practice . I appreciate her advice on photography. Also, the adventure she takes her readers on as she documents them through her artful eye a.k.a her camera. I have her on my list of people to interview or feature; until than take a look through her photo album. While your there you will pick up insider advice on bettering your photos and products to use.  Doesn’t that sound great?! Good!

Now go visit: A Touch Of The Divine by Michelle . Who, I found today featured on Leanne’s blog. Michelle’s tag line gets you at first sight; Searching for the Extra in the ordinary . When you see her photos of the scenic views of a Canadian winter and up close nature shots. I’m sure you all will see the extraordinary, too. It’s a gift that both photographers have, which is the beauty of these two blogs. Another good thing is, if you’re not a photographer you won’t be disappointed by what you see.

My third was very interesting: Broken Light: A Photography Collective . It a place for photographers or  lovers of photography, who get together to share their work. That sounds traditional, enough. An everyday interactive blog; it’s for creatives with mental illness.

I think this a great idea. Part of their statement is ” Broken Light’s main goal is to create a safe and accepting environment where photographers of all levels who are affected by mental health issues can display their work, as well as inspire one another to keep going and keep creating, despite the dark or scary places in which they may find themselves.”

Awesome! They also encourage other people without illness to help out to spread some light and encouragement. I hope to add to the positivity ,as I  have witness such moments.  Please, and join me!

My forth is off the path a bit, but something close to my heart I found it today at: the Unfinished Child /God’s not done with me yet.  Which makes: Mavis Davis my fifth find. These are both Christian blogs, that are identifiable for said community and belief.  This is also where I found something that I have never seen done in this forum before, that I had to try it.

It’s called: 15 minute drawing challenge, where we use the featured bible verse! I thought it was fun, though it looks like I’m the only that participated. I still think it’s a great idea that needs some support. If you like to see my effort please go to my christian blog: Live 1 Cafe  and of course join the fun at Mavis Davis.

In conclusion all these blogs are family orientated. Where they share their joy ,angst and advice in motherhood and marriage. Which makes every one of these blogs relatable  to everyone, for me it’s the creativity and any advice is good advice.

Blessings and xx-oo ~Leah
